The Fair Boundaries initiative, which proposes to have an independent commission draw political district boundaries, is absolutely vital to protect our democracy here in Utah. With the Republican-controlled Legislature setting its own districts, it is the elected officials choosing their voters, not the voters choosing their elected officials. By establishing an independent, bipartisan boundaries commission, our electoral districts will allow our elected officials to truly be elected by the people, not just elected by the people they choose.
