Fireworks farewell

The Fourth of July fireworks event at Sugar House Park was breathtaking. At the same time, it was bittersweet because it was the final show sponsored and coordinated by the Sugar House Park Authority, the independent, not-for-profit organization that operates the park.

The park authority thanks all those who have contributed so much time and effort over the years to help make this event so successful, including the Salt Lake County Parks staff, the Salt Lake City police and fire departments, Gold Cross, the Salt Lake City School District, and Vortex Productions, creator of the magnificent fireworks show.

The park authority regrets that it is no longer able to support this event (an explanation is on our Web site, www.sugarhousepark.org), but it is proud to have been able to sustain it on a limited budget for as long as it did. And it is grateful to all those who helped along the way.
