I take issue with John Masek's "Lukewarm moderates" (Forum, June 28). Moderation has served me well all my life. As a moderate Democrat, I find this to be true in pro-life issues, too.

Masek is off when he compares abortion to the Holocaust or slavery. We all need to make wise comparisons and not lump all things together; life is just not that simple. These extreme actions of mass murder and oppression are not at all similar to the sadness of miscarriages and abortions.

I would not personally choose to have an abortion, and because I have had a number of miscarriages I am "pro-life." Still, these little ones with the potential for life are not yet fully life, and some women have situations where it would not be wise to bring a child into the world because it would be unfair to the baby. For them, I am pro-choice while I am also for reducing the need for many abortions.
