As an Iranian-American who is concerned about the outcome of the events that are unfolding in Iran, I urge Sen. John McCain and others to refrain from making these events into yet another Republican-Democratic issue, in hope of gaining political points.
To say that the American government, the American media and the American people are in lockstep with the opposition would be an understatement and need not be reaffirmed. However, the slightest hint of support from President Barack Obama for the demonstrators will give the regime in Iran an excuse to paint the uprising with the stars and the stripes and then burn it.
