Why are all these communities along the Wasatch Front talking about trolley systems?

We taxpayers do not need two totally incompatible rail systems in the valley. This means, two totally incompatible track systems, two totally incompatible inventories of rolling stock, two totally incompatible maintenance facilities, and two totally incompatible managements, each spending lavishly to increase the size of its empire.

What these communities should do is demand frequent, low-cost shuttle systems operating the most efficient vehicles for the job. This would take care of the special needs of each unique neighborhood and be flexible enough to adapt to changing requirements. Whether the Utah Transit Authority or a private carrier handles this, it could be implemented with little lag time and at much less expense to the taxpayers.
