Derek Price was "appalled" by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taking a position on a political issue, with heavy moral content, such as the amendment to ban same-sex marriage in California ("Feeling the spirit of political rules," Opinion, July 20). Really? Appalled?
Perhaps it has not occurred to Price that the LDS Church and other churches have been taking stands on moral issues for a long time before same-sex marriage became a "political issue." That is what churches, LDS or otherwise, are supposed to do.
Is Price "appalled" when some so-called Christian churches make political statements in favor of same-sex marriage?
