The ad the American Beverage Institute ran in the Tribune is offensive; where is the voice of the victims of DUI drivers?

Bile rose in my throat as I watched the evening news when the ABI compared drunken driving to driving over the age of 65. What absolute rubbish. Aging is not a choice; drinking and driving is a choice. What an insult to anyone who has lost a loved one to a DUI.

July 10, 1990, my 4-year-old son sat at a red light in the car with his grandma Beth, 43, and our cousin Janine, 15. They were hit head-on by a drunken driver. All three were killed. HB155 cannot and must not be repealed by the efforts of an overpaid Washington lobbyist interfering.

This bill isn't about drinking, it's about driving. It isn't about stopping tourism, it's about families returning home from their vacations intact.

I would like to speak for the thousands of lives impacted by these tragedies. As I live and breathe, I wouldn't wish the tragedy of what happened to my family on any other family. HB155 can make this a reality.
