Hanlon's razor suggests, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

So let's proceed under the assumption that the individuals running UDOT are thoughtless fools rather than malevolent sadists.

How else might we explain their idiotic decision to close the entrance to 215 from 80 East for an entire weekend — when the only logical alternative, entering the freeway from Foothill, is also closed?

Their lack of understanding of traffic flow, combined with their indifference to the suffering of motorists and the degradation of air quality caused by thousands of idling vehicles, created (once again) a nightmarish logjam on what was otherwise a beautiful weekend.

I doubt there is another similar entity — anywhere — that so callously disregards the needs of the very population it is entrusted to serve. Oh wait, I just thought of one: the Utah Legislature.
