President Trump has done a number on the media.

Aside from repeatedly calling the media "the enemy of the people" (he is assuredly unfamiliar with the play by Henrik Ibsen), he has threatened to cancel all media briefings and, on June 19, had Sean Spicer hold one which the media were prevented from recording both in video and audio.

Interestingly, the media has responded in a tedious manner. Most television news outlets now present continual Breaking News to highlight the story of the hour. As a news junkie, it is difficult to ascertain what is really an important story.

Perhaps the media could come up with more compelling epithets so we could know when really to pay attention. Like: Back Breaking News, Mind Breaking News, or Unbelievable Breaking News.

On the other hand, despite Trump's antipathy to the media, any attention he gets feeds his narcissism.
