Rep. Norm Thurston once again makes clear his message with House Bill 155. If you drink at all, we don't want you here. Stay home and out of sight.
He suggests that if you are going to have a glass of wine or beer with dinner, you should call an Uber or invite your Mormon neighbors along to drive.
Imagine having to go to the expense and inconvenience of calling for a ride just to have a beverage with dinner. Also, everyone who knows Mormon culture, especially members like Thurston, is aware that Mormons will not associate at the same table with those who are consuming any alcohol to avoid the appearance of evil.
His message is clear all right: We are controlling, we're weird and we want to be weirder.
