Thanks to University of Utah Health Care/Huntsman Cancer Institute I have survived cancer since October 1989. I would like to second, and add to, Jon Huntsman Sr.'s comments ["U. administrators are 'inept' and need to be fired, Huntsman says," April, 22].

David Pershing and Vivian Lee should immediately resign their management positions or, if they aren't smart enough to do so, be fired for the following reasons: To fire anyone, much less a well-respected leader as Mary Beckerle, by email, not by private personal conference, was (1) cowardly, (2) stupid, (3) rude, (4) crude, (5) unfit, (6) un-professional and, to quote Mr. Huntsman, (7) "inept" management. Further, (8) they have disgraced the University of Utah to the extent that as long as they maintain their positions few well-qualified researchers, instructors or students will want to apply. (9) They have disgraced those presently there as well as all graduates.

As technically qualified as Pershing and Lee may be, they are unqualified managers. Should the board of trustees fail to take immediate action to offer resignation or dismissal, the board should also resign for the same reasons.
