Acting on bad information, I wrote a letter to the editor of The Tribune criticizing Rep. John Knotwell and Sen. Jacob Anderegg because they had not attended a legislative meeting with people with disabilities.

Apologies to Knotwell.

He contacted me immediately, explained his absence and we discussed issues and legislation that concern people with disabilities. Residents of Herriman are fortunate to be represented by him. He is compassionate and willing to listen.

Thank you, Salt Lake Tribune, for making the dialogue possible. Lesson learned: Check the source.
