I want to thank The Salt Lake Tribune for its Feb. 18 editorial concerning the loss of the Outdoor Retailer convention. Truer words were never written — written beautifully and to the point.

As a Utah native, and having lived here all of my life, the desire to dismantle the Bears Ears monument and what appears to be contempt for all public lands in this state by our "leaders" is mind-boggling. The "white rejection of the legitimacy of a black president listening to Native Americans" is nothing less than shameful.

Though bad for our state, I applaud the Outdoor Retailer participants' decision to move elsewhere. Thank you, too, for again pointing out the one-party system that leads us down this dead-end road to begin with and that leaves so many in this state with no voice at all.
