Our Bureau of Land Management has decided to change the name of Negro Bill Canyon, near Moab, to Grandstaff Trailhead. This two-mile trail ends at a natural bridge called Morning Glory. Doesn't the BLM know what morning glory means to some people? No, it's not an obnoxious weed. Many public lands, state and federal, have the word "Squaw" in their title, which could be offensive to many women, especially American Indians. How many revised or edited names and signs need to be erected to protect the offended and politically correct? Quit trying to sterilize the past.
