Deregulating Salt Lake City International Airport taxis is a stupid policy. Any guy with a car can call himself a taxi, get access to the taxi stand at the airport and charge you whatever he wants? The problem seems to be a combination of poor airport management and bad decisions by Salt Lake City government officials. Salt Lake City doesn't need to be innovative. Just do what other airports do — allow Uber, Lyft and other car services, but the taxi lane should be reserved for metered, regulated taxis.
