We extend thanks and appreciation to Officer George Uyema for assisting my wife after her car abruptly broke down on 700 East during rush hour today. With my wife were two of our young grandchildren. Uyema escorted them to the safety of a sidewalk. He also pushed our car into a parking lot.
His resumption of duty was not surprising. The surprise was his return with cold beverages in hand for my wife and grandchildren, who by then were in the 100-degree heat for nearly an hour.
Officer Uyema, you connected with our grandchildren by your thoughtfulness, and by so doing provided them with positive experience with police in our community. Kudos to you!
