In his letter ("It's your conscience. It's your vote," July 27) Craig D. Thulin tells voters they can write in someone like Ted Cruz or Mitt Romney for president.

According to the state election website, write-in votes for non-registered federal or state candidates will not be counted. Writing in Mitt Romney is the same as leaving that race blank. Your vote will not show up in the total results. I encourage voters to visit elections.utah.gov and research registered candidates for each office on your ballot, and vote accordingly.
