Dear Mr. Mero,
By all means, please leave the GOP. ("Trump has chased me from the GOP," by Paul Mero, Tribune, July 22)
Your purist attitude is exactly what the Democrats are hoping for. Your attitude will assure that Hillary Clinton will be elected. Donald Trump certainly is not perfect, but we know what will happen with Hillary. I can only assume that you are not smart enough to realize that not voting for either is in fact, a vote for Hillary. But that's OK for you.
The Supreme Court will never recover, and the only conservatism that will be left will be in your mind. The open borders that you love will flood the country with people that will surely vote Democratic, making the opposition party more worthless than they have been for the last seven years.
I hope that you are prepared to live in a socialist country for the rest of your and your children's lives. Just remember, you and those "never Trumpers" will be the cause of the destruction of what was the greatest country the world has ever seen.
