In early May, the Utah Department of Transportation spoke with local media regarding road construction on the I-215 west belt. Their public information officer said: "We're going to have all four lanes open for the morning and evening commute, so that's great news."

For the past several weeks, however, southbound traffic has been reduced to just three lanes, for a long stretch beginning around 2100 South. This three-lane stretch creates a bottleneck that stretches for miles behind it.

This stretch of road causes a significant delay for thousands of Utahns every afternoon. UDOT is on the record, stating they recognize the importance of having four lanes open. They should devote any available time and resources to this stretch of road in an effort to quickly reopen this fourth lane.
