I'm not surprised to learn that almost nobody living in Utah's gerrymandered 2nd District knows who represents them in Congress ("Congressman Who?" June 24).

Let me introduce Chris Stewart, R-Utah: He's an anti-science climate-change denier who sponsored a bill to prevent scientists from testifying before Congress about their own research and co-sponsored a bill to support the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

He's a member of the "Federal Land Action Group" with an agenda to privatize America's public lands and sell them off to rich developers. He wanted Congress to de-fund Bureau of Land Management law enforcement as retaliation for trying to round up illegally grazing cattle belonging to militant rancher Cliven Bundy (the father of Ammon and Ryan Bundy who staged an armed takeover of a bird refuge in Oregon last winter).

It seems that Stewart prefers to fly under the radar with his unpopular tea-party politics. After all, if he were actually trying to represent citizens in his district, it seems like more of us would know his name by now.
