Looking through the paper, I see "FLDS," "GIPC," "DEC," "BLM," "GOP," "EOP," "DEA," "VRBO," "CEO," "BYU," "USU," "DWTS," etc., etc.

Why is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" not abbreviated to "TCOJCOLDS" (or simply "Mormon") as well?

Why are we forced to try to remember what all these initials stand for, but have to choke down 10 words when one would do nicely?
