I much appreciated the recent letter, "Trump a closet liberal" (May 24) wherein the writer, Gary R. Hecox, wonders whether Trump is 1) the hatemonger who would torture, ban, build walls, etc.; 2) the blithe and bonny backtracker who would negotiate everything; or, 3) a clueless guy long on slogans, short on workable plans, and devoid of necessary knowledge.

Who knows? I lean towards the last myself, but it could be all three.

The one thing Dr. Hecox needn't fear: Trump is no "closet liberal." DT (for Donald Trump or delirium tremens, take your pick) is truly the poster child for the worst definition of situation ethics. He appears to have no core convictions or principles. He waves his arms about and says whatever he thinks will get him what he wants in the moment.

At the present moment he's a bored billionaire who wants a new toy and that toy is the presidency of the United States.
