H. David Burton was elected as chairman of the board of UTA nearly two years ago. It was presumed that he would help that extremely important public body recover from the then-current scandals that were sinking the ship. It was believed that he would bring to that organization the claimed ethical and moral standards of the LDS Church, in which he held a high and important position.

Rather than bringing the touted open, ethical and moral standards to this body on which more of us will continue to rely, The Tribune of May 14 reports that Burton is adding to the mistrust of this public body by hiding the decisions of that body even deeper in its own bureaucracy.

In an attempt to defend this further unexpected secrecy, he is now acting like a corrupt politician in blaming the press for his decision to hide his conduct and that of the board of the UTA in their management of our necessary public transportation system.

Thanks to The Tribune for alerting us to this thoughtless conduct of Burton and his henchmen. It is hoped that Burton will realize the error of his ways, recant and return the management of the UTA to the openness that was expected when he was elected and that the taxpaying public deserves.
