After attending the Utah County Republican Convention, I almost gave up hope in my Republican Party. There was too much discussion about Count My Vote and too few candidates brave enough to stand for something other than being the most conservative individual in the room.

My faith in Utah politics has been somewhat restored with the news that Reps. Mia Love and Rob Bishop have signed onto the Reach Every Mother and Child Act of 2015. I am grateful to our Utah representatives for rising above partisan politics in order to make real change for mothers who are desperate for our support.

I am hopeful that Republicans and Democrats together can end preventable maternal and child deaths once and for all. Let's continue to encourage Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Sen. Mike Lee to support this life-saving, effective and efficient legislation.
