I generally watch Channel 2 in the morning, and recently I have observed a disturbing new feature of their broadcast, the mobile weather lab.

In the same broadcast that they report how bad our air is and advise us to carpool or take transit, they seem delighted to show us what is happening from behind the wheel of a giant Chevy Suburban.

I fail to see how they call it a weather lab since I have yet to see any information provided that we didn't get prior to the introduction of this monster. We currently have road cameras that cover most of the metro area and citizens who provide pictures of what is happening around the valley.

The use of this beast certainly seems like a solution looking for a problem. If we must have a weather person out on the road, put them in a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt and let us all breathe a little easier.
