Now that the Utah Legislature is in session, the legislators can do a decent thing by requiring the Utah Retirement Board to reverse their past decision regarding law enforcement and corrections retirement.

These officers used to look towards retirement at 20 years employment and receive 50 percent of their pay. The new retirement plan, which is affecting police and correctional agencies in hiring qualified men and women, now requires 25 years employment and retirees would receive 37.5 percent.

This decision is a slap in the faces of those men and women who have proudly worn a badge. It's up to the legislators to do what they were elected for and represent the people (not themselves).
