I am glad to see that the former Delta Center will no longer be associated with Energy Solutions' radioactive waste facility in Clive, Utah. Some of us will remember the funny but symbolic names echoed around town years ago: The Dump, Melta Center, Fallout Shelter, Radium Stadium, Tox Box and my personal favorite, Energy Pollutions Arena — EPA for short. How ironic.

Since 2010 Energy Solutions has been trying to gain the approval of the Utah Department of Environmental Quality to amended their license and allow the Clive facility to store/dispose depleted uranium.

Gov. Gary Herbert knows that depleted uranium is hotter than Class A Waste (the only waste allowed in Utah), that the National Regulatory Commission (NRC) has refused to classify depleted uranium correctly, that the federal government has nowhere to put more than 700,000 metric tons of this radioactive waste, that in 2010 he stopped trains loaded with depleted uranium from coming here and that he has a "hunch" this needs to be classified as "something else."

I ask Utahns to contact our governor and ask him to stand up and prohibit Energy Solutions from bringing depleted uranium to Utah. To stop this conversation now and forever by saying "no" and to show us his leadership qualities.

We want a leader on this issue. Can and will Gov. Herbert lead?
