I wanted to add another point of view to the op-ed article written by Rachel Borup regarding her take on gun laws ("We need more than luck to protect us from gun violence," Tribune, Nov. 15). As someone who is not sure where to stand on this issue, I feel the argument she made was not effective in convincing others of her opinion to bring about change.

Ms. Borup talks about the dangers of "open carry" laws and relates them with experience she had at the mall where she noticed two men openly carrying guns at the food court. She states that she feared for her and her daughter's lives and that while she is lucky this time, she may not be so lucky next time.

I doubt that anyone who plans on causing harm to others in the way she describes would be stopped simply because they cannot brandish their weapon openly. I feel as if she is punishing these gun owners who did nothing wrong and hope that in the future she sticks to more facts and concrete arguments to make her point and convince others like me who are trying to find a side in this debate.
