I was interested in a new teacher's take on what teachers need ("Money is nice, but teachers need more," Nov. 1).
As the husband, father, son and brother of teachers or former teachers, I think the three things teachers need most are respect, trust and appreciation — none of which they get from the Legislature or administrators.
I think the teacher shortage could be remedied if teachers weren't micromanaged so much but were treated like the professionals they are and allowed to do what they do best — teach.
