Letter: Walkers demean themselves with "slut"

With reference to the so-called "SlutWalk" held last Saturday, meant to draw attention to sexual violence against women, I'm astonished that the group would further demean women by using such a crass moniker as "slut" to identify themselves.

The word is so counterproductive that it removes any possibility of credibility or respect among decent, thoughtful people.
