Former University of Utah skier and runner Torin Koos and Park City's Liz Stephens were among eight athletes named today to the U.S. Olympic Team for cross country skiing at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Koos will be competing in his third Olympics, along with world silver medalist Kikkan Randall -- though raised in Alaska, she was born in Salt Lake City -- and Kris Freeman. Andy Newell and James Southam are heading to their second Olympics, while Morgan Arritola, Caitlin Compton are going to their first. Koos, Arritola and Stephens all take classes at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

"This is a team that goes to Vancouver well-prepared, with proven success in major international competitions," U.S. Nordic director John Farra said.
