Utahns often joke about their manic weather, but this week it was funny just how spot on those usually exaggerated descriptions were.

A tempestuous week of tornadoes, flooding and snow welcomed the start of autumn, but the state will return to more even-tempered weather after some weekend showers.

But if you're not a pluviophile — someone who loves rain — don't worry. While more rain is set to come Saturday morning in the Salt Lake Valley, it will taper off by the afternoon. Highs will hang in the 60s as cloud cover remains throughout the day. Sunday will bring sunshine and warmer temperatures, which will linger this week.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect through late Saturday morning for snow in the Wasatch and Uinta mountains. At altitudes 7,000 feet and higher, snowfall could total up to 12 inches. Alta Ski Area reported a light dusting throughout the upper portion of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Utah's Dixie will be sunny and clear Saturday with highs in the upper 70s. Northeastern winds will blow through St. George in the evening, bringing lows in the mid 50s. The remainder of the week will get warmer from there, topping out in the mid 80s.
