The 1966 Lovin' Spoonful hit "Summer in the City" offers a lyrical description of Utah weather this holiday weekend: "hotter than a match head."

Salt Lake City will see highs in the mid-90s Sunday with temperatures throughout the week going up into the triple digits. The lows will hover in the mid-70s, not offering much of a respite from the sunny and clear days.

St. George on Sunday has an anticipated high of 105; the remainder of the week will top out at 107 degrees. The lows will likely hang in the upper-70s. The week may bring some partial cloud cover along with some breezy winds.

If you're holding out hope that the hot weather won't be as bad as the numbers suggest, just turn again to the song, which croons "despite the heat, it'll be alright."
