Utah is locked in a cycle of rain showers and thunderstorms through the midweek, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook advisory for the western two-thirds of the state.

That periodically heavy rainfall, coupled with accumulating mountain snow, could heighten the potential for localized flooding on mountain slopes and in slot canyons — and the wet weather is expected to continue into the Memorial Day weekend.

Along the Wasatch Front, morning rain on Wednesday will taper off some in the afternoon before surrendering to thunderstorms and squalls in the evening — a repeat of Tuesday's forecast. High temperatures will range into the 60s both days.

Southern Utahns won't escape the precipitation and thunderclaps, either. Utah's Dixie will see both on Wednesday, along with high temperatures near 80 degrees, a few degrees warmer that a wet Tuesday forecast.

The Utah Division of Air Quality graded all monitoring locations as being in the "green," or healthy zone.

As might be expected with all that humidity, mold was "high" on the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index, with sycamore and mulberry at "moderate" levels as of Tuesday.
