A Hazardous Weather Outlook advisory has been issued for the western two-thirds of Utah through the midweek, with wind-driven showers and thunderstorms expected to buffet the region.

"Raindrops on the windshield, there's a storm moving in," as country singer Garth Brooks croons. Along the Wasatch Front, winds of 10-30 mph also were forecast as the thunder rolls — along with evening mountain rain and lightning, both Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-70s.

The precipitation and thunderclouds were expected to bypass southern Utah, however. But Utah's Dixie will see gusty winds of up to 30 mph both Tuesday and Wednesday, with high temperatures rising into the low- to mid-80s.

The Utah Division of Air Quality had a mixed bag forecast for the state. While the urban valleys of the Wasatch Front looked for "green," or healthy conditions, Duchesne, Uintah, Carbon and Washington counties all were graded at "yellow," or compromised air quality through the remainder of the work week.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website rated "mulberry and mold as "high" but all other allergens were "low" on its pollen index as of Tuesday.
