The potential for wetter, colder weather should scrub up the remaining inversion around the state at the start of the week.

In far northern Utah, light snow is possible Sunday in the higher terrain along the Idaho border. Then starting Monday, a cold front could bring some light mountain snow and valley rain to northern Utah, according to the National Weather Service.

The hazy air is expected to improve as the cold front moves through. The Utah Division of Air Quality forecasts moderate air quality on Sunday for Utah, Weber, Box Elder, Cache, Uintah and Duchesne counties. Then on Monday, the air clears up — except for Duchesne and Uintah counties, which won't improve until Tuesday.

A moderate chance for avalanches persists in the mountains across the state on both Sunday and Monday as well, according to the Utah Avalanche Center.

Salt Lake City can expect high temperatures of 52 and 46 on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Highs in the St. George area are expected to reach around 60 both days.
