Add Al Jazeera to the growing list of TV networks fascinated by polygamy.

The Qatar-based news outlet, via its U.S. branch Al Jazeera America, published a video and an article earlier this week about polygamy in the Short Creek area. The video begins with the story of Ruby Jessop, who somewhat famously left the FLDS community in January. It also includes an interview with Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, as well as some background into some of the issues going on in Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale, Utah.

The article also includes some background and mentions interviews with Richard Holm and others. And while I disagree with some of the descriptions — there are almost no "small roads" in Short Creek, for example, and at a glance it's not really so different from other small Utah towns — it does capture to some extent what it's like to visit the area for the first time.

The article and video apparently are a part of the "America Tonight" program, which airs Monday through Friday nights. However, this new polygamy content appeared under an "In the works" banner and I didn't see an air date, so I guess that information is forthcoming.
