Conservatives wrestling with government shutdown threats. Planned Parenthood grants ending in Utah. Kate Kelly to join PP's efforts.

Happy Friday. In less than two weeks, the federal government will run out of spending authority — and well, so will Planned Parenthood. Congress has only a few days to figure out how to pass a short-term funding measure with a conservative crowd planning to hold up any budget measure that includes money for Planned Parenthood. And the same people who campaigned against a government shutdown are the same folks now facing the decision. Topping the news: Utah has taken steps to terminate four grants to Planned Parenthood that fund programs monitoring sex education and sexually transmitted disease. The state has yet to reallocate the funds to other providers.
