For a second year, the Utah Transit Authority will offer youth ages 18 and younger a three-month unlimited transit pass for the summer break.

The cost will be $75 if purchased during May online at rideuta.com/buyapass, and $99 thereafter, UTA President and CEO Michael Allegra reported to the UTA Board on Wednesday.

Called the "rider's license," instead of a driver's license, the pass is designed to give young students summer transportation without the need to ask parents for a ride.

It will be valid for unlimited use on UTA buses, TRAX, FrontRunner and the S Line streetcar between June 1 and Aug. 31.

Allegra said the pass will help youth to become familiar with local routes and begin the habit of riding transit.
