In acknowledgment of Child Abuse Awareness month and their commitment to combat child abuse, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints recently made a $100,000 donation to the Utah Children's Justice Centers, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

The donation was made during a tour of the Salt Lake County's Children's Justice Center where church leaders had an opportunity to become familiar with the center and the work that occurs there.

The Children Justice Centers are established throughout Utah and support the investigation and prosecution of child abuse offenses. Salt Lake County's Children's Justice Center is a department under the district attorney's office.

" ... I want to personally acknowledge the generous donation by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints," Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office Sim Gill said in a news release. "As a prominent member of our community, their generous act and stance against child abuse demonstrates the value of collaborative efforts to serve and protect the most vulnerable in our community. The funds will directly support the important work of the Children Justice Centers, and will have a positive impact upon the children and their families who are the unfortunate victims of child abuse crimes."
