BOYS' BASKETBALL

CLASS 5A

1. Bingham (11-3) • It didn't take long for the Miners to regain the top spot in the rankings.

2. Copper Hills (13-3) • The Grizzlies have a trap game against Jordan before traveling to Bingham on Jan. 31.

3. Lone Peak (11-3) • The Knights are in a familiar position: First place in Region 4.

4. Pleasant Grove (13-2) • Dropped three spots after a one-point loss to Lone Peak.

5. Sky View (12-2) • The Bobcats are in the rankings for the first time this season.

CLASS 4A

1. Olympus (14-2) • The Titans have won 11 straight.

2. Timpview (11-3)• Gained sole custody of first place in Region 7.

3. Woods Cross (13-2) • Far and away the best team in Region 5.

4. Timpanogos (11-4) • Big win against Corner Canyon has the Timberwolves in contention in Region 7.

5. Corner Canyon (9-4) • The Chargers are headed in the wrong direction.

CLASS 3A

1. Dixie (17-0) • The Flyers answered the bell once again versus Pine View.

2. Juan Diego (14-2) • The Soaring Eagle is alone atop Region 11.

3. Ridgeline (11-4) • Bear River will be a challenge this week.

4. Desert Hills (11-4) • The Thunder have won 7 of 8.

5. Pine View (12-3) • No time to sulk about loss to Dixie. Desert Hills is on the schedule this week.

CLASS 2A

1. Emery (15-1) • The Spartans already beat all five of their remaining opponents.

2. Layton Christian (8-8) • Might be the scariest team in the classification right now.

3. Summit Academy (11-5) • The Bears have won five straight.

4. Enterprise (12-4) • Huge game against South Sevier on Wednesday.

5. San Juan (11-4) • Lost to Emery, but that's something the Broncos share with many other teams.

CLASS 1A

1. Panguitch (14-0) • The Bobcats confirmed they're for real with a double-digit win against Bryce Valley.

2. Duchesne (8-4) • Lost to Class 3A's Union and won't be punished for scheduling a tough opponent.

3. Rich (9-4) • Lost to an out-of-state opponent.

4. Bryce Valley (10-4) • The Mustangs were no match for Panguitch.

5. Valley (11-4) • The Buffaloes are in the rankings for the first time this year.


GIRLS' BASKETBALL

CLASS 5A

1. Viewmont (14-1) • The Vikings already defeated their six remaining opponents this season.

2. American Fork (15-1) • The winning streak is up to 15 games.

3. Copper Hills (14-2) • Picked up a huge win at Taylorsville.

4. Sky View (11-3) • The Bobcats have a two-game cushion in Region 1.

5. Layton (11-4) • The Lancers make their first appearance in the rankings this season.

CLASS 4A

1. Mountain View (12-2) • The Bruins registered the biggest win, in any classification in either boys' or girls' basketball, this season at Alta.

2. Alta (12-1) • The Hawks let their undefeated season slip away.

3. Skyline (14-3) • The Eagles are very deep and balanced.

4. Springville (11-5) • Don't look now, but the Devils are atop Region 8.

5. Highland (10-5) • The Rams have won eight straight.

CLASS 3A

1. Desert Hills (11-3) • The Thunder benefited from teams ranked above them losing and find themselves ranked No. 1.

2. Grantsville (15-2) • The Cowboys survived a challenge against Stansbury.

3. Richfield (15-2) • The Wildcats knocked off Carbon, which had been ranked No. 1 the entire season.

4. Carbon (13-3) • The Dinos rebounded with a win against Juab after a disappointing performance against Richfield.

5. Juan Diego (9-4) • The Soaring Eagle are catching fire.

CLASS 2A

1. North Summit (15-0) • The Braves hardly are being challenged at this point.

2. Emery (14-1) • The Spartans have won 12 straight.

3. North Sevier (11-6) • The Wolves keep winning to keep pace with Emery in Region 15.

4. South Summit (11-4) • Blowout loss against North Summit illustrates the gap the Braves have on the rest of the classification.

5. Kanab (10-5) Massive game against Beaver looming.

CLASS 1A

1. Wayne (15-1) • Took over the No. 1 spot after knocking off Bryce Valley.

2. Bryce Valley (12-4) • Lost the battle of the two top-ranked teams.

3. Panguitch (11-5) • Have the Bobcats finally found the consistency they've been searching for?

4. Monticello (13-2) • Might be the surprise team in the classification.

5. Piute (11-5) • Couldn't hang with Panguitch.
