Salt Lake City police are looking for a person of interest in a homicide that occurred Saturday.

At 9:39 p.m., a gunman trying to get into an apartment at 1359 N. Redwood Road allegedly shot and killed 33-year-old Kenonren Goodman during a struggle, police records state. The alleged gunman is being held at the Salt Lake County jail.

Police believe the person of interest, Astacia Felice Carter, was at the scene of the shooting when it occurred but had left before police arrived.

Carter is described as a 24-year-old Hispanic woman who is about 5-feet-1 and weighs about 140 pounds, according to a police news release. Carter has brown hair and brown eyes.

The police department asks anyone with information on Carter's whereabouts to call 801-799-3000.

Anonymous tips may be sent by text to 274637. Tipsters are asked to begin text messages with TIPSLCPD, which routes it to the police department, and include any relevant information. They may also reference case No. 16-221241.
