Spencer Curtis stands alone.
The Jordan senior now owns every significant career receiving record in state history. In the Beetdiggers' 55-21 win against Cottonwood, in the final game of the regular season, Curtis hauled in 13 receptions for 279 yards and five touchdowns, and played only one possession in the second half. The five touchdowns in one game is also tied for the state record.
Already the state record-holder for career receiving yards, now at 4,314, Curtis surpassed Fremont's Austin Raught's high-mark of 231 career receptions, established from 2003-05. Curtis has 241 career catches.
He also exceeded the record of 41 receiving touchdowns, shared by Raught, Brighton's Simi Fehoko (2013-15) and Jordan's Cody Raymond (2005-07). Curtis has 43 career touchdown receptions.
Curtis increased his season total to 60 receptions for 1,197 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2016 despite tearing his ACL in the offseason. It's the third consecutive year he's reached the 60-catch, 1,000-yard and 10-touchdown plateau.
Curtis, also a sharpshooter basketball player at Jordan who hasn't generated much attention at the next level for either sport, is guaranteeed at least one more football game in his high school career, as Jordan, the No. 2 seed from Region 3, is scheduled to host Viewmont, the third-place finisher from Region 2, in the opening round of the Class 5A postseason at 5 p.m. on Friday.
