Antelope Island's Fielding Garr Ranch that contains one of Utah's oldest structures on its original foundation, will be closed indefinitely to the public after parts of it were damaged by Thursday's storm that hit northern Utah.

According to a news release from Utah State Parks, the decision stems from safety concerns after the roof a barn was severely damaged. Other standing structures, windows and dumpsters were damaged by the storm.

No visitors or staff members were injured in the incident. All large mammals on the island are well and are not believed to have been injured.

There has been a structure at the Garr site since 1848, when Mormon settlers established a cattle ranch on Antelope Island.

The ranch will reopen after park staff have assessed damage and determined it is once again safe for visitors.
