A fast-moving early Wednesday morning fire destroyed a mobile home in West Valley City, leaving a family of five homeless.

The West Valley City Fire Department confirmed crews were dispatched to the Western Estates Mobile Home Park, 7106 W. Palomino Drive (2635 South) at 6:48 a.m., where they found smoke and flames billowing from a back window of the mobile home.

Three adults and two children escaped unharmed, though both adults and two of the children were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.

Firefighters said two dogs belonging to the family were missing; one was seen running from the fire, while the other was unaccounted for.

The family was being assisted with shelter, food and clothing needs by the Utah Red Cross.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
