Firefighters from several agencies rushed to a two-alarm blaze at a home in Taylorsville Wednesday morning.

Public safety dispatchers say a 911 call came in at 5:29 a.m. reporting the fire at 4477 S. Driftwood Drive (1470 West).

No injuries were immediately reported, and seven family members, along with several pets living in the home, escaped the flames. Three other people living in the house were not home at the time.

Unified Fire Authority spokesman Taylor Sandstrom said that in addition to UFA crews, neighboring West Valley City, South Salt Lake and Murray sent firefighters to assist.

Sandstrom said estimated losses were being assessed, but the home was heavily damaged and uninhabitable. The Utah Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents with shelter, food and clothing needs.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but initially there were no indications it was suspicious in origin.
