A 62-year-old woman is dead after a fall while climbing in Maple Canyon on Saturday afternoon.

Melissa Raue, of Holladay, was climbing with her husband and a friend, according to a news release from Sanpete County Sheriff's Office. Raue slipped and fell about 60 feet onto a rock floor about 1:20 p.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The canyon, located in central Utah, is popular for its cobblestone climbing routes.
