Utah State senior Devante Mays has been named to the 2016 Doak Walker Award watch list. The award is presented annually to the nation's top running back.

Mays is from Livingston, Texas. He played in 13 games and made six starts last season for the Aggies. He rushed for 966 yards on 165 carries and scored a team-high nine touchdowns. He ranked third in the Mountain West Conference and 39th nationally by averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

Mays rushed for over 100 yards three times, highlighted by a season-best 176-yard effort on carries against Wyoming.

In other news, Utah State senior nose guard Travis Seefeldt has been named to the 2016 Wuerffel Trophy watch list.

The Wuerffel Trophy is considered college football's premier award for community service. It is presented annually by the All Sports Association in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Entering his final season at Utah State, Seefeldt is from Liberty High School in Peoria, Ariz. He missed last season following injuries sustained in a car crash but was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

As a junior, Seefeldt had 35 tackles, which included two quarterback sacks and six for losses.
