Many of the down-and-out residents of a West Oakland, Calif., neighborhood rely on a local recycling center to turn trash into cash. But their livelihood becomes endangered by uncertain markets and a city crackdown on shopping carts and blight.

On Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., filmmaker Amir Soltani and executive producer Geralyn Dreyfous join Jennifer Napier-Pearce to talk about the story of homeless recyclers in the documentary "Dogtown Redemption."

The Utah Film Center presents a free public screening of "Dogtown Redemption" and Q&A with the director at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
