The Bureau of Land Management St. George Field Office and BLM Arizona Strip District and the Southwest Utah National Conservation Lands Friends group will host a free photography workshop Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

The workshop, featuring professional landscape photographer Bob Wick, will be held at the St. George Interagency Center at 345 East Riverside Drive.

Wick's photos have been published in the Washington Post, Outside Magazine, National Geographic and CBS Evening News. He is also a wilderness specialist for the BLM who has traveled throughout the western U.S. and Alaska capturing images of some of the nation's most remote and spectacular landscapes.

The workshop will start at the Interagency Center and include a 60 to 90 minute presentation on composition techniques, natural light direction, primary camera controls of aperture and shutter speeds and other technical information.

Wick will also share photo examples of his visits to BLM areas including northern Arizona and Utah.

The classroom session will be followed by a two-hour field session in the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area that will include moderate hiking for up to two to three miles in backcountry terrain.

Participants should bring water, snacks and provide their own transportation.

The session is for novices to intermediates. Wick is also providing a night sky photography workshop from 9:45 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. for intermediate to advanced photographers.
